Tyler Ivey tosses six scoreless to secure Sugar Land's 11th straight victory
The Space Cowboy’s starting pitcher Tyler Ivey threw a gem on Sunday and his performance led Sugar Land to their 11th straight victory and completed the series sweep against the Reno Aces in a 3-0 victory.
Ivey threw six scoreless innings allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out a season-high eight batters.
Right-handed pitcher Nick Hernandez earned the win in his one inning in relief. In the top of the seventh, he allowed no runs on zero hits to pick up his second win of the season.
Closer Luis Contreras slammed the door shut in the ninth inning allowing no runs and no hits while striking out two batters to record his fourth save of the year.
After six full innings of a scoreless ballgame on Sunday afternoon, catcher Collin Price hit a no doubt home run to left field to take a one-run lead.
The Space Cowboys rallied for two more runs in the inning with first baseman Luis Castro scoring on a throwing error and shortstop Zack Short continuing the momentum by lacing a single to left field that scored right fielder Tommy Sacco Jr. and extended the lead to three.
Sugar Land’s bullpen once again finished the game strong and maintained a zero on the scoreboard to defeat the Aces.
With the win, the Space Cowboys improve to 27-18 on the season.
Next up, Sugar Land will look to add on to their impressive win streak as they take on the Las Vegas Aviators in a six-game homestand at Constellation Field.
