The Astros called up Sugar Land’s starting pitcher Colton Gordon to make his first Astros start on Wednesday night against the Kansas City Royals. The 6-foot-4 southpaw provided the Astros with a solid start finishing with seven hits allowed, two walks, three earned runs and three strikeouts across 4.1 innings.

Gordon picked up his first major league strikeout against the Royals' infielder Jonathan India who was the first batter of the game. The left-hander froze India on a full count heater on the inside corner of the strike zone. Gordon ended the game with 85 pitches and threw 58 for strikes. His former Space Cowboy teammate who was recently called up, Shawn Dubin, followed with 1.2 innings in relief.

Dubin only allowed one hit and struck out three to keep the score at 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. The duo provided the Astros with solid outings which resulted in a 4-3 comeback victory.
