Houston Dynamo FC wrapped up a two-game homestand at Shell Energy Stadium with a 1-0 win over New York City FC. This is Houston's second win of the season.

A foul in the box gave Dynamo the lead for the second straight week. In the 52nd minute, Houston midfielder Hector Herrera got fouled by NYCFC defender Tayvon Gray. After a review by the video assistant referee, Amine Bassi converted the penalty for his second goal of the year.  With an open look at goal, Corey Baird almost doubled the score in the 62nd minute. In the end, Baird's shot just clipped the corner of the far post and went out of play.

With its first open look of the night, Brooklyn Raines gave the Dynamo its first MLS start. At the top corner of the box, Bassi intercepted a ball from NYCFC's backline. Raines, who was trailing at the center of the 18-yard box took his lone shot of the night, narrowly missing the back of the net.  Raines and Nelson Quiñones earned their first MLS start on Saturday night . Raines is the first Homegrown player to start a game for the Dynamo this year and logged 75 minutes. The midfielder spent the bulk of last year with Houston Dynamo 2.
