Cal McNair's Lone Star Sports & Entertainment Acquires LOVB Houston: A Major Investment in Women's and Youth Sports

In a significant move poised to elevate the professional sports landscape in the Bayou City, Lone Star Sports & Entertainment (LSSE), the sister company of the Houston Texans, has acquired the League One Volleyball (LOVB) Houston team. The deal, spearheaded by Texans Chair and CEO Cal McNair and Vice President of the Houston Texans Foundation Hannah McNair, signals a major investment in both female and youth athletics within the Houston community.

An Ecosystem for Sport in Houston

The acquisition of the professional women's indoor volleyball team is seen as a natural extension of the McNair's commitment to growing sports opportunities outside of the NFL. The purchase aligns with LOVB's unique "community-up" model, which integrates a professional league with a vast network of youth clubs. In Houston, this includes the nationally ranked Houston Skyline junior club, boasting over 1,300 athletes.

"We are always looking at creative ways to establish a better ecosystem around the Texans and LOVB is another example of that," said Cal McNair. "This continues to grow our fanbase, makes sports more accessible and is an investment in the Houston community. It aligns with everything we are doing to provide a world-class experience for our fans and champion a competitive advantage for female athletes."

This integrated approach aims to build a powerful pipeline, linking local community engagement directly to the professional stage, and fostering lifelong fandom for the sport.

Championing Women's and Youth Athletics

The investment in LOVB Houston follows the McNairs' successful efforts in promoting girls' flag football in the state, underscoring their dedication to championing female athletes.

Hannah McNair emphasized the importance of the new venture: "It has always been a priority for us to elevate sports opportunities in Houston, especially for women and youth, and this falls right in line with that initiative... We believe this will make a major impact on the community and grow our fan base in H-Town, where volleyball is booming in popularity."

LOVB Pro, which launched its inaugural season earlier this year, features some of the world's top talent. The LOVB Houston roster includes notable stars such as two-time Olympic medalists Jordan Thompson and Micha Hancock, and NCAA champion Jess Mruzik.

Looking Ahead to the New Season

The LOVB Houston team, which finished second in the league's first season, will kick off its expanded 2026 season with 10 home matches starting on January 8, 2026. The team will split its home games between the Berry Center and the Fort Bend County Epicenter, bringing professional volleyball to fans across the greater Houston area.

The acquisition by LSSE is expected to leverage the Houston Texans' considerable business and marketing expertise to help develop the LOVB Houston team's profile and ensure its long-term success as a cornerstone of the city's sports culture.
