Space Cowboys drop third game against Sacramento in 9-5 battl

Sugar Land continues to struggle with their new-look lineup and fell to the River Cats 9-5 in Friday’s game at Constellation Field. The Space Cowboys are now just 1-3 in this six-game homestand against the Sacramento Rivercats. 


Tommy Sacco Jr. started the scoring for Sugarland in the second inning with an RBI groundout to second base and Luis Guillorme scored.A missed spot by the Space Cowboys starting pitcher A.J. Blubaugh led to a three-run shot by Luis Matos to gain a 3-1 lead.


After the Space Cowboys scored a run on a passed ball in the third inning, Marco Luciano crushed his tenth homer of the season to get the run right back and lead 4-2.Singles by Colin Barber in the fourth and Omar Narváez in the fifth tied the game at 4-4.


Sacramento took control of the game in the seventh inning by exploding for four runs on three singles by Wade Meckler, Bryce Eldridge and Brett Wisley to lead 8-4. Luciano scored in the eight on a wild pitch to increase their lead to five runs. Sugar Land rallied in the bottom of the eight with a double by Jesús Bastidas that scored Sacco Jr, but the Space Cowboys fell short in a 9-5 defeat.


Joey Lucchesi tossed two scoreless innings to record the win for the River Cats. Jayden Murray picked up his first loss of the season by allowing four runs on four hits on his relief appearance.
