Once again, it's that time of year. The Bayou City's unofficial holiday, 713 Day, celebrates the first digits it was assigned.

Originally, Texas was designated for four sets of area codes when area codes first came to North America in 1947. Houston became the 713 in 1957.

The Houston area received the 713 area code. As the area has grown over the years, additional numbers such as 281, 832, and 346 have been assigned to it.
713 Day is celebrated on July 13th (the 13th day of the seventh month).

In lieu of the day, Bun B and the Houston Astros have teamed up to bring you a special edition hat. During last week's Astros game, Bun B hinted at it by throwing the first pitch. A black hat with a "Trill OG" logo and an Astros logo in gold was worn by the rapper during the outing. As seen in a recent Instagram photo, Bun B wears a different cap, along with the other three headgears, including that black hat.

Today, at Minute Maid Park's Union Station team store, you can meet Bun B and shop the collection starting at 2 p.m. till closing at at 7:13 p.m. Along with the hat, fans can get the 713 Edition Box. Unfortunately, you won't be able to make online or phone orders. So, make sure you get to Minute Maid Park to snatch up one of these special edition caps.
