Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson made his boxing debut last night (Sunday, June 6, 2021) on the Maywether vs. Paul undercard.

Johnson looked strong and fast from the first bell, opening the bout with a left hand that utilized his impressive reach well. In the second round, he clinched and hit his opponent with a harsh hook after clinching up with Brian Maxwell. The contest started off with Johnson bouncing out of range easily, circling the ring well.

Johnson's moments of brilliance became less frequent as the fight progressed. It became increasingly difficult for him to get into and out of range easily. Initially, Maxwell didn't have any luck landing his fighting style. The fourth round of the fight saw "Ochocinco" flex at his opponent. Afterwards, Maxwell struck him with a big right hand and threw him to the ground.

During the in-ring interview, Johnson said, “I had fun, My life has always been about taking chances, doing crazy stuff, and this is one off my bucket list. For people that are content, scared to fail, get out there and live, man. Don’t be scared to fail, it’s okay!"

“I don’t box,” he concluded. “I fight, but it ain’t in the ring. So of course I was a little sloppy. I had fun. I think I’m ready for [Conor] McGregor!”

We will see if that match gets put on a card here in the near future.
