Houston Dynamo 2’s unbeaten home run ends in loss to Ventura County FC

HOUSTON (Aug. 14, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 fell 2-0 to Ventura County FC at SaberCats Stadium earlier this evening, marking their first home loss of the 2026 season and snapping their nine-game unbeaten streak in Houston, the longest undefeated home streak in team history. Tonight also marked the first time the team was held scoreless this campaign, ending a 20-match scoring streak in which Houston had found the back of the net at least once in every game. 

 

Notably, the team's unbeaten home streak saw Dynamo 2 record eight victories and one draw, including a four-match home winning streak to kick off the season and a three-match home winning streak to start the month of July. 

 

Ventura County took the lead in the 43^rd minute when Gabriel Arnold found the near post with a curling freekick near the top of the box. The visitors then doubled their lead in the 50^th minute after Luis Muller struck a left-footed shot inside the box into the back of the net.

 

The first half featured a tightly contested battle, with both sides going back and forth, including a dangerous opportunity from Dynamo 2 in the 34^th minute following a great team play. Forward Jahmani "JJ" Bell found defender Reese Miller making a run down the left flank, where he then played a ball to forward Arthur Sousa for a left-footed strike inside the box. The effort forced Sebastian Conlon to come off his line and block the shot away for a Dos corner. 

 

Another chance came in first half stoppage time when attacker Mattheo Dimareli nearly caught Conlon off guard with a long-range shot from 25 yards out, but the effort instead struck the crossbar.

 

Dynamo 2 ended the first half with six shots, one more than Ventura, along with a 90.5 percent passing accuracy on 242 passes and six corners.

 

Attacker Samir Mohammad found Sousa inside the box in the 54^th minute for a header that sailed over the crossbar.

 

Dynamo Academy goalkeeper Roman Kerimov was called into action in the 55^th minute after coming off his line and reacting quickly to deny Julian Placias' shot with his feet.

 

Forward Mamadi Jiana forced a Dynamo 2 corner in the 82^nd minute after receiving a ball inside the box and striking it towards the visiting goalkeeper who blocked the effort away for the corner.
