The McNairs Address Media As New Owners at LOVB Houston Home Opener
Cal and Hannah McNair, representing the Houston Texans' ownership through Lone Star Sports & Entertainment (LSSE), stood before the media at the Berry Center to usher in a new era: the home opener for LOVB Houston Volleyball.
The atmosphere was electric as the McNairs addressed the press, marking their first major public appearance since the announcement of their acquisition of the team. For a city long defined by its football, baseball, and basketball heritage, the evening was a powerful statement on the rising prominence of women’s professional sports.
A Vision for "H-Town" Sports
Cal McNair, Chair and CEO of the Houston Texans, emphasized that this investment was about more than just adding a team to their portfolio; it was about community building.
"We are always looking at creative ways to establish a better ecosystem around Houston sports," Cal told reporters. "Investing in LOVB is an investment in our city. It’s about providing a world-class experience for fans and ensuring that Houston remains at the forefront of athletic excellence across all disciplines."
Hannah McNair, Vice President of the Houston Texans Foundation, took a more personal tone, highlighting the "community-up" model that defines League One Volleyball. With over 1,300 youth athletes already part of the Houston Skyline junior club, she noted that the path from grassroots to the pros is now a reality in Houston.
"Volleyball is booming in H-Town," Hannah said. "To see these young girls in the stands tonight looking up at Olympic medalists—that is the pipeline we want to nurture. We want to elevate opportunities for women and youth, and LOVB is the perfect partner for that mission."
Looking Ahead
The McNairs' involvement signals a significant shift in how professional women’s sports are supported in Texas. By leveraging the infrastructure and branding power of the Houston Texans, LOVB Houston is positioned to become a cornerstone of the city's sporting culture.
The team will continue their 2026 season with 10 home matches split between the Berry Center and the Fort Bend County Epicenter.
