Sugar Land Partnering With Candlelighters To Celebrate Landon’s Win Over Cancer
SUGAR LAND, TX – Coming up on Friday, May 2, the Space Cowboys will proudly host Landon, a 10-year-old from Tomball, to celebrate his recent completion of a seven-month chemotherapy and treatment journey at Texas Children’s Hospital. Landon was diagnosed in September 2024 with stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and secondary Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), and completed treatment on March 31, 2025.
For more than 30 years, Candlelighters has provided practical, emotional, and educational support to families with children fighting cancer – including right here in Sugar Land. From parking assistance and grocery cards to hospital support, a weekend family camp, and exciting parties, Candlelighters helps ease the burden on families so they can focus on what matters most: their child’s health and healing.
To recognize Landon’s incredible milestone, the Space Cowboys will welcome him to Constellation Field for a full VIP experience. Landon will join the team during batting practice, receive a personalized Space Cowboys jersey, and officially “sign” a one-day ceremonial contract with the team. Prior to first pitch, he’ll take part in the ceremonial ringing of the cancer bell – symbolizing the end of his treatment – and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The entire Space Cowboys organization is honored to stand with Landon, his family, and over 300 other childhood cancer families with Candlelighters, to celebrate this important moment. The Space Cowboys are also proud to spotlight the vital work Candlelighters is doing to support local families affected by childhood cancer.
