Houston, TX--Dameon Pierce had a promising rookie season in 2022, rushing for 939 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games. He was on pace for a 1,000-yard season before suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 13.

Pierce is looking to build on that success in 2023. He has come into training camp looking leaner and quicker, and he is expecting a big season. He has set a goal of rushing for 1,000 yards, and both head coach DeMeco Ryans and offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik expect him to achieve that goal.

The Texans are installing a new offensive system this season that will focus on getting the ball in the hands of their running backs. This is a good fit for Pierce, who is a versatile runner who can both run between the tackles and catch passes out of the backfield.

If Pierce can stay healthy in 2023, he has the potential to be a star running back in the NFL. He has the talent and the work ethic to be a difference-maker, and he is surrounded by a good coaching staff that can help him reach his full potential.
