SUGAR LAND, TX — It was a tough stretch at home for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys as they played host to the Albuquerque Isotopes from May 5th through May 7th. Despite flashes of offensive production and solid individual efforts, the Space Cowboys were unable to secure a victory, dropping all three contests at Constellation Field.

May 5: Late Rally Falls Short

Final Score: Isotopes 7, Space Cowboys 5

In the series opener, the Space Cowboys found themselves playing catch-up early. Starting pitcher Bellozo struggled to find a rhythm, surrendering several runs over the first few frames. Sugar Land's bats woke up in the middle innings to bring the game within reach, but the Isotopes' bullpen held firm in the final two innings to stave off the comeback attempt.

May 6: Blowout in Sugar Land

Final Score: Isotopes 12, Space Cowboys 2

The second game of the series was one to forget for the home crowd. Miguel Ullola took the mound for Sugar Land but was met with a relentless Albuquerque attack, giving up five runs in just four innings of work. The Isotopes blew the game open in the later stages, tagging the Space Cowboys' bullpen for an additional seven runs.

  • Bright Spot: Carlos Perez provided one of the few highlights for the home team, launching a solo home run in the 9th inning.

  • Offensive Note: Kellen Strahm finished the night 2-for-4 with a double.

May 7: Early Lead Dissipates

Final Score: Isotopes 10, Sugar Land 3

The series finale saw Colton Gordon take the hill, but he faced similar struggles as the previous starters, allowing seven runs (six earned) over 4.2 innings. Sugar Land briefly grabbed momentum in the 3rd inning thanks to a two-run double by CJ Alexander, but the Isotopes responded with three runs in the 9th to put the game out of reach for good.

  • Stat Leader: James Nelson continued his consistent play, hitting .302 as he looks to lead the charge into the next series.

Series Summary

The sweep brings the Space Cowboys to a 17-19 record for the season. While the rotation struggled throughout the three-game span, the offense showed life in spurts. The club will look to reset and find more consistency on the mound as they continue their homestand.
