LONG BEACH, Calif. — In a display of grit that has become the hallmark of their franchise, LOVB Austin captured their second consecutive League One Volleyball (LOVB) title on Saturday night, April 18, 2026. Facing a relentless challenge from LOVB Salt Lake, Austin survived a five-set marathon before delivering a clinical 15-8 performance in a winner-take-all "golden set."

The victory, played before a sold-out crowd at the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid, solidifies Austin as the league's first true dynasty.

The Road to the Golden Set

Austin entered the night with their backs against the wall. Having lost the first match of the championship series to Salt Lake on Thursday, they needed to win Saturday’s match just to force the tie-breaking golden set.

The match itself was a rollercoaster of momentum:

  • Set 1: Austin jumped to an early lead, winning 25-20.
  • Sets 2 & 3: Salt Lake, led by the thunderous swings of Alexa Gray, stormed back to take two straight sets (21-25, 22-25), moving within one set of their first title.
  • Set 4: With Salt Lake leading 15-11 and the trophy in sight, Austin flipped the switch. A 6-0 run shifted the energy, allowing Austin to escape with a 25-22 win.
  • Set 5: Austin maintained their composure to take the match 15-11, evening the series at 1-1 and triggering the golden set.

A Clinical Finale

While the preceding five sets were defined by razor-thin margins, the golden set belonged to Austin. Salt Lake struck first with an Alexa Gray kill, but Austin responded with a devastating 5-point run to take a 7-3 lead.

The defending champions showcased their depth at the net, with Asjia O’Neal and Molly McCage neutralizing Salt Lake’s transition game. At 14-8, Logan Eggleston—who also delivered the championship point in 2025—put away the final kill off an out-of-system set to ignite the celebration.

Post-Match Reflections

Madisen Skinner, named the LOVB Championship MVP for the second year in a row, emphasized that the team’s success was built on more than just talent.

"I think a lot of us are chasing more than championships; we’re chasing connection and personal growth," Skinner said. "It was about how much we could push ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves."

For head coach Erik Sullivan, the win was a testament to the team's resilience. "To watch the grit of our team and how we are competing right now, it’s awesome," he remarked. "They put a lot of stress on you, but I’m proud of how we figured it out at the end."

With two titles in two years, LOVB Austin has set a towering standard for the professional volleyball landscape in the United States. As Eggleston noted during the trophy ceremony, "We are creating a legacy. We are setting the tone for years to come."
