César Salazar’s three-run home run powers Space Cowboys past the Salt Lake Bees in series opener

Sugar Land’s catcher, César Salazar crushed his fifth home run of the season in the sixth inning to hold off the

Bees in a 4-3 battle. Salt Lake stamped a three run inning in the scorebook in the first due to five early walks.

Brice Matthews responded in the bottom of the inning with a lead off solo shot to left field to cut into the lead 3-1. The Space Cowboy’s bullpen closed the game after Salazar’s clutch home run and combined for a total of three hits and one walk and allowed no runs to slam the door shut on game one.

Relief pitcher John Rooney tossed 1.1 scoreless innings and earned the win while closing pitcher Tayler Scott recorded the save.

With the win, Sugar Land improves to 54-58 on the season and has a chance to get back over .500 with a series sweep.
