Dynamo FC beat Eathquakes 4-3

Houston Dynamo FC defeated the San Jose Earthquakes at PNC Stadium earlier this evening by a final score of 4-3 to improve to 3-1-2 to start the season.

Dynamo forward Sebastian Ferreira scored the opening goal of the game off a corner kick in the seventh minute. Defender Adam Lundkvist’s found an unmarked Ferreira with a low, driven cross and the Paraguayan international beat JT Marcinkowski at the near post.

San Jose forward Jeremy Ebobisse finished with a brace with the first goal coming in the 25th minute off an assist from Cade Cowell. Midfielder Jan Gregus found the forward three minutes later and Ebobisse’s header beat the Dynamo goalkeeper at the far post.

Dynamo forward Darwin Quintero scored the equalizer minutes before the end of the first half. The Colombian playmaker played a ball to forward Tyler Pasher at midfield and the Canadian forward forced the San Jose goalkeeper off his line. Marcinkowski got a hand on the ball at the edge of the box, but the clearance fell to an oncoming Quintero who scored his fourth goal of the season.

Dynamo forward Fafa Picault won a corner kick in the 57th minute for the go-ahead goal. The corner kick was initially cleared by San Jose but the second ball fell to defender Teenage Hadebe near the penalty spot for his first goal of the year.

Picault tallied his first assist of the season in the 68th minute after he dribbled into the box. Picault pulled two defenders and created space for an oncoming Ferreira, who scored his second goal of the season.

San Jose defender Tommy Thompson cut the Dynamo lead to one goal when he found the back of the net off a rebound in the 77th minute.

The Dynamo almost tallied their second goal of the first half in the 27th minute when midfielder Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquilla forced a save at the near post.
