Ecuador vs El Salvador Friendly match ends in Draw

 


It remains to be seen if El Salvador and Ecuador will make it to the World Cup. Next month, when qualifying matches resume, both teams hope to qualify for the tournament. However, they will play a friendly match this Saturday in Houston, Texas, to stay sharp.

In their previous two meetings, Ecuador has beaten El Salvador 8-1. In their most recent match in 2017, El Salvador lost 0-3 to Ecuador. El Salvador has been the home team in each of the meetings, a trend that continued on Saturday. 

Despite a 0-2 record in friendlies, they are 8-6-8 in competitions. In spite of a 0-2 record in friendlies, El Salvador is 8-6-8 in competitions.  2021 has been different for El Salvador than their opponent so far. The team did however win at a crucial moment. In the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, they lost to Qatar 3-2 in regulation after finishing second in Group A. Joaquin Rivas had three goals in the tournament. El Salvador will be playing in the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers when the calendar flips to 2022.

El Salvador fans were in FULL effect taking over majority of the PNC Stadium. Without a doubt it was a competitive game, that led the match to be ended as a draw (1-1) against the two teams.
