The highly anticipated matchup between two unblemished 4-0 teams turned into a decisive victory for No. 11/14 Texas Tech on Saturday evening, as they cruised past Houston with a 35-11 final score at TDECU Stadium.

The Red Raiders wasted no time seizing control, capitalizing on two early Houston turnovers to score on each of their first five possessions. Houston's defense initially bent but didn't break entirely, holding Texas Tech to three consecutive field goals. Senior kicker Ethan Sanchez eventually put the Cougars on the board late in the first quarter with a 24-yard field goal, narrowing the lead to 9-3.

However, Texas Tech's offense soon found the end zone, pulling away with a flurry of points. Quarterback Behren Morton connected with receiver Cameron Dickey for a huge 69-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter. Running back J'Koby Williams punched in a five-yard touchdown run early in the second, followed by a 26-yard field goal from Stone Harrington to push the lead to 24-3 before the half.

Houston managed a brief spark after an injury to senior quarterback Conner Weigman. Backup quarterback Zeon Chriss-Gremillion stepped in and delivered a 64-yard touchdown pass to junior receiver Amare Thomas. A successful two-point conversion pulled the Cougars to within 25-11 with 87 seconds left in the half.

The Red Raiders reasserted their control in the second half, adding 10 more points. Upton Bellenfant hit a field goal, and J'Koby Williams secured his second touchdown run of the game early in the final period, sealing the 35-11 victory.
