HOUSTON (Friday, Feb. 23, 2024) – The Houston Dash and forward Cece Kizer have agreed on an extension keeping the striker in Houston through 2025.

Kizer rejoined the Dash earlier this year following a trade with Kansas CIty Current on Jan. 17. The forward’s first stint with the team began after Houston selected Kizer No. 13 overall in the 2019 NWSL Draft from the University of Mississippi.

“Cece fits right into the style of play we are implementing as well as what we're building on and off the pitch,” Dash general manager Alex Singer said. “She has shown her qualities that make her the attacking threat she is in the league. We're happy she wants to be here in Houston, look forward to working with her for the coming years, and are excited to watch her impact as we continue to drive this team forward.”

Kizer has scored 18 career regular season goals in four seasons in the NWSL. With a career high of seven goals 2022, helping Kansas City reach the NWSL Championship final.

The forward was key in helping the Dash capture its first trophy in club history as a member of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. Kizer played 61 regulation minutes in the tournament championship match, resulting in a 2-0 win over the Chicago Red Stars.

“It feels like a full circle moment,” Kizer said. “I am grateful to be back with the organization that took a chance on me originally when I went pro. I am an entirely different player than I was when I first arrived, and I think I can bring a lot to this group. I’m very excited to be back and represent Houston again and back for two years.”

Kizer and the Dash will continue to prepare for the 2024 NWSL season which kicks off on March 16 on the road against the North Carolina Courage. Fans will get to see Kizer back in orange on March 23 against Racing Louisville FC at Shell Energy Stadium. Tickets for the home opener are available here.
