Texans are trading Omenihu to the 49ers

The Houston Texans are still having a flee market sale on players. Houston has traded edge rusher Charles Omenihu to San Francisco in exchange for a future late-round pick, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

In his first two seasons as a pro, he recorded seven sacks, making him the fifth-round pick out of Texas. In 2021, he hasn't recorded a sack in six games, but he has recorded 11 quarterback pressures for a rate slightly above 10 percent. Omenihu was given a 67.5 overall defensive grade by Pro Football Focus, but an 80.3 pass-rushing grade.

49ers are investing in a player they believe will be able to develop within their system. In fact, they're adding depth to a defensive group that has also welcomed Samson Ebukam and Arden Key to their ranks.
